- Desktop Dozen is a collection of 12 tools for your computer.
- They are:

- * ALARM CLOCK
- Set messages to appear and programs to start at specific
- times. Includes countdown alarms, too.
-
- * AREA CODE FINDER
- Search for area codes by cities, or for cities by area
- codes.
-
- * ASTRONOMY CALCULATOR
- Displays the rise/set times for the sun and moon. Also
- includes dates and times of season changes and lunar
- eclipses.

- * CALENDAR
- Displays your choice of a 1-month, 3-month, 6-month, or
- 12-month calendar. Calendar week numbers may be
- displayed, and weeks can start on whichever day you want.
- (You can show weeks running from Tuesdays to Mondays, for
- example.)

- * DATE CALCULATOR
- Perform various calculations with dates. For example, what
- date is 100 days from today? If someone was born on
- March 6, 1960, how old is he?

- * MEASUREMENT CONVERTER
- Convert values of weight, length, area, temperature, and
- volume.

- * POSTAGE CALCULATOR
- Calculate various U.S. Postal service rates for single
- pieces sent to domestic and international destinations.

- * PRINTING CALCULATOR
- Similar to a standard calculator, but includes a running
- tape display which can be printed out.

- * STATE ABBREVIATIONS
- Shows you the official U.S. Postal service abbreviations
- for U.S. States and Territories, as well as Canadian
- Provinces. Includes other official Postal abbreviations,
- too.

- * STOPWATCH
- It's a stopwatch. You know--start, stop, lap, reset.

- * TIME CALCULATOR
- It looks like a standard calculator, but you use Time
- Calculator to add, subtract, multiply, and divide hours,
- minutes and seconds.

- * ZIP CODE FINDER
- Search for zip codes by cities, or for cities by zip
- codes.

- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- * Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, or Windows 2000.
- * 800 x 600 screen size.

- You are free to try Desktop Dozen for 45 days. After that
- time, if you want to keep using Desktop Dozen, you need to
- pay Spud City Software Co. for your copy/copies of the
- software.

- GETTING STARTED

- Here's how to install Desktop Dozen, then read an
- introduction and short tutorials for each of the 12 tools:

- * If Desktop Dozen is not already installed on your computer,
- run the SetupD12.exe file to install it. (From Windows
- Explorer, double-click on SetupD12.exe to run it.)
- * Click your Windows START button, then click PROGRAMS, then
- click on DESKTOP DOZEN.
- * Double click DESKTOP DOZEN HELP. The help file opens.
- * Double click INTRODUCTION.
- * Double click GETTING STARTED WITH DESKTOP DOZEN.

- v. 2.3 (September 17, 2001)
- * Correction to Postage Calculator's postcard rate.
- * Added a workaround for computers that could not
- display the Astronomy Calculator as a shaped window.

- * Changes to Global Priority Mail country assignments.

- v. 2.1 (May 14, 2001)
- * New postage rates (that go into effect on July 1,
- 2001) have been added to the Postage Calculator.
- Prior to July 1, 2001, postage will continue to be
- calculated at the old rates. Beginning July 1, 2001,
- the program will automatically use the new rates.
- * Fixed a bug in the Astronomy Calculator that prevented
- the 'today' and 'tomorrow' sun labels from appearing
- after switching from the shaped style to the standard
- Windows display.
- * The database engine has been updated.
- * Area code and zip code data have been updated.

- v. 2.0 (March 31, 2001)
- * Desktop Dozen can be used now on computer systems that
- have their default font size set to larger than normal.
- * For all of the tools, added the option to view their main
- window in the standard Windows format, as well as in the
- original Desktop Dozen "shaped" style.
- * In all of the tools, added the option on the main shaped
- window to see minimize and close buttons.
- * In all of the tools, added the option to see a "menu"
- button on the main shaped window. When pressed, the pop-up
- menu appears.
- * In the Astronomy Calculator, if you select a location by
- zip code, the city name now appears automatically at the
- top of the main screen.
- * In the Astronomy Calculator, changed the moon graphic so
- that the different lunar phases are easier to see.
- * In the Area Code Finder and Zip Code Finder tools, city
- and state names are now shown in upper/lower case rather
- than all lower case.
- * In the Postage Calculator, you can calculate rates
- immediately after choosing a country in the country list
- by pressing the Enter key.
- * When using the Printing Calculator and Time Calculator in
- the standard Windows format display, you can now choose
- whether to display the calculator buttons. Also, you can
- resize their "tape" displays to any height, which will be
- remembered and restored the next time you start the tools.
- * In the Alarm Clock, fixed a bug that would not allow
- alarms to be set to 12:00 am.
- * In the Alarm Clock, fixed a bug that would not save changes
- to Alarm checkboxes if the changes were made on the main
- Alarm Clock screen.
- * Updated the area code, zip code database.

- v. 1.6 (January 1, 2001)
- * Updated the Postage tool with new Global Express Guaranteed
- rates announced by the US Postal Service on December 28,
- 2000.
- * Fixed a bug in the Astronomy Calculator that would show
- moon and sun rise/set times 1 day early if your latitude
- was between Greenwich mean time and the international
- date line.
- * Updated the area code, zip code database.

- * Updated the Postage tool with new domestic and
- international rates, taking effect Jan. 7, 2001.
- * In the Postage tool, improved the reliability of whether
- the zip code text boxes are enabled or disabled, depending
- on whether certain domestic services are checked in the
- Options screen.
- * Updated the area code, zip code database.
- * Implemented a new registration process.
- * Increased the trial period from 31 to 45 days.
- * Created RegForm.txt registration form, for use if the
- trial period has expired, and you want to register by mail
- or fax.

- * In the Postage tool, added calculations for Global Express
- Guaranteed Document and Global Express Guaranteed
- Non-Document services, which have replaced the older
- Priority Mail Global Guaranteed service as of Nov. 3, 2000.
- * In the Measurement Converter, fixed a bug that would
- display incorrect answers when converting units of area
- from or to square kilometers.
- * In the Measurement Converter, added the metric unit of area
- known as hecatares.
- * Changed the check boxes in the Alarm Clock tool to a new
- diamond style.
- * Updated the area code, zip code database.

- * In the Postage tool, updated the rates for Priority Mail
- Global Guaranteed service.
- * Made changes to the Global Priority Mail service's
- available countries to match USPS changes.
- * In the postage tool, available flat rates are now displayed
- in the rate window. This applies to Express Mail, Priority
- Mail, and Global Priority Mail.
- * In the stopwatch tool, you can now reset the display
- immediately after the program starts.
- * In the Zip Code Finder and Area Code finder, fixed bugs
- that could display incorrect controls on the main window if
- the 'minimize to icon tray' option was checked and you
- restored from a minimized state.
- * Updated the area code, zip code database.
- * In the Astronomy Calculator, corrected the season names
- for locations in the southern hemisphere. (Australia's
- winter solstice occurs in June, etc.)

- software after the 45-day evaluation period, a registration

- Payment may be made by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or
- American Express) or by check (drawn on a US bank). Detailed
- information regarding payments and quantity discounts are

- Unregistered use of Desktop Dozen after the 45-day
- evaluation period is in violation of U.S. and international
- copyright laws.

- This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of
